Our Commitment

GoPlay Alberta is committed to making our Platform accessible and inclusive to all users, including individuals with visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor disabilities. We continuously audit and update our frontend code to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA requirements. Our goal is to ensure a premium, barrier-free digital experience for all Alberta adults.

Accessibility Features

To achieve our inclusion targets, we have designed the platform around these technical features:

  • Semantic HTML5 Markup: We use appropriate semantic elements (like main, nav, section, article) and ARIA attributes to support screen reader screen navigation tools.
  • Sufficient Color Contrast: All main text elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, complying with WCAG guidelines for visibility.
  • Keyboard Navigation Support: Users can navigate through headers, burger tabs, buttons, forms, and accordions using only standard keyboard controls.
  • Alt Text on Informational Images: All lifestyle illustration and game preview WebP images include descriptive alt tags. Purely decorative elements are hidden from assistive tools.
  • Text Resizing: Page text scales up to 200% using browser scale tools without losing layout integrity or functionality.
  • Active Focus Indicators: High-contrast focus outline rings highlight active form boxes, select dropdowns, and button links.

Ongoing Testing

Our web developers test code regular updates using automated auditing tools (such as Lighthouse and Axe DevTools) alongside manual keyboard navigation testing. We verify page structures, focus cycles, and screen reader announcements to identify and address barriers.
